Megan Stambaugh is a Manager in LSL’s Assurance & Advisory department, where she partners with privately held businesses to deliver audit, review, and compilation services that provide confidence in their financial reporting and support long-term business success. She works primarily with clients in the agriculture and construction industries, while also bringing experience serving manufacturers, restaurants, nonprofits, and medical organizations. Whether she’s helping a client navigate complex accounting standards or guiding them through their first audit, Megan is passionate about building trusted relationships and making the process approachable.
Throughout her career, Megan has helped clients implement new lease accounting standards, prepare first-year GAAP financial statements, and navigate combined and consolidated financial reporting. She has also supported businesses through ownership transitions, succession planning discussions, and business sale transactions as part of multidisciplinary advisory teams. In addition, she has extensive experience with employee benefit plan audits, helping organizations transition payroll providers, custodians, and third-party administrators while understanding the audit implications of those changes. Her background also includes assisting clients through the termination of ESOP and defined benefit pension plans, always focusing on helping clients understand not only what needs to be done, but why it matters.
For Megan, accounting has always been more than numbers. Drawn to the profession by her love of math and problem-solving, she enjoys translating complex accounting concepts into practical conversations that help clients make informed decisions with confidence. She believes an audit is about far more than compliance—it can provide lenders, investors, and stakeholders with the confidence organizations need to pursue growth opportunities and achieve their strategic goals.
Equally important to Megan is investing in the people around her. She enjoys mentoring team members, helping them develop both technically and professionally, and creating an environment where people feel supported, challenged, and genuinely cared for. Having benefited from mentors throughout her own career, she is passionate about paying that investment forward and helping the next generation of accountants succeed.
Outside the office… Megan can usually be found with a crafting project in hand, whether she’s crocheting, sewing, embroidering, or adding a little glitter to something creative. She enjoys reading, hiking, camping, and spending time anywhere near the water—from the beach to the lake or river. Plus, a self-proclaimed Christmas enthusiast, Megan loves decorating for the holidays—in fact, in past years she’s filled her home with six full-sized Christmas trees, including both a hot pink and a bright red tree.
