Senior Manager
Dave Bettner is a Senior Manager in LSL’s Consulting & Advisory department who brings nearly a decade of hands-on Workiva expertise to every engagement. He started his career at Workiva as a Financial Reporting Manager specializing in SEC reporting, later becoming a Solutions Architect implementing Workiva for financial reporting and GRC teams. He continued that path as a Manager in the Workiva digital services group at Clearview Group (now Citrin Cooperman). After ten years of “living and breathing Workiva,” Dave now helps LSL clients transform their reporting processes with practical, scalable solutions.
Dave’s accounting background includes SEC, SEDAR, and IFRS financial statement preparation and review, with a deep focus on XBRL tagging and connected reporting. He has supported enterprise clients across the insurance, healthcare, real estate, and energy industries—implementing SOX, audit, and management reporting solutions within Workiva. Dave is known for developing custom workflows: gathering requirements, architecting the right approach inside the platform, and training end users so the solution feels intuitive from day one.
His interest in accounting started in college, where his first accounting professor at Iowa State encouraged him to pursue the field—advice that shaped his entire career.
At LSL, Dave provides Workiva implementation and optimization services, helping clients streamline reporting, improve processes, and apply best practices grounded in real-world experience. He excels at translating technical requirements, identifying opportunities for automation, and designing solutions that make complex reporting easier and more reliable.
Outside the office… Dave enjoys playing and watching sports, including rec-league softball, volleyball, kickball, and even shuffleboard. He roots for the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. Dave is also a photography enthusiast who enjoys landscape, still-life, and street photography—and is excited to dive more into wildlife photography next.
