On August 12, 2015, the Texas Comptroller issued Letter No. 201508350L, clarifying the definition of a wholesaler/retailer for the purposes of administering the Texas franchise tax. Generally, the Texas franchise tax is 1%, but wholesalers and retailers receive a more favorable rate of 0.5%.
